What is Magnetic GLUX?

Magnetic GLUX is a new GLUX Putty with magnetic properties!  When the putty is stretched, molded, or shaped, the putty has no magnetic charge and Magnetic GLUX behaves like all any other GLUX Putty.

However, in the presence of a magnetic field, its magnetic forces begin to align. Suddenly, a truly magnetic GLUX Putty is created that will attract to one magnetic pole and repel from the other. We call this ‘Charging’ your GLUX. ‘Charged’ Magnetic GLUX does more than simply respond to a magnetic field. It actually becomes a magnet itself with a strength that is orders of magnitude more powerful than uncharged GLUX.

If Magnetic Glux contains tiny magnets, why do you have to “charge” it in order for it to pick up objects?

When you manipulate and smoosh Magnetic Glux all the millions of micromagnets are pulled and oriented in random directions—this cancels their magnetic field. When exposed to a magnet, the particles line up and face the same direction, returning the magnetic properties of the Magnetic Glux.

Can Magnetic GLUX pick up tacks and paperclips?

Yes. After Magnetic GLUX is ‘charged’ by a magnet, it will lift paperclips, tacks, and other lightweight ferrous materials. It can even magnetize small metal objects on its own.

What kind of magnet works best to charge the putty?

We recommend using a Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnet (aka rare earth magnet) like the one supplied with Magnetic Glux.

How do I ‘Charge’ my magnetic GLUX?

We recommend using a rare earth magnet (Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnet). You will hold this magnet close to the Magnetic GLUX. This will line up all the magnetic nano-bits. The strength will continue to increase as the magnetic field expands throughout the entire piece of putty over time.

‘Charged’ Magnetic GLUX does more than simply respond to a magnetic field. It actually becomes a magnet itself with a strength that is orders of magnitude more powerful than uncharged GLUX. Once Magnetic GLUX is charged by a magnet, you can flip it backwards to feel it actively repel the NdFeB magnet. Hold it in place against the repulsion and count to five. Pop! The magnetic poles of the GLUX Putty flip again and it morphs from repulsion to attraction.

As the magnetic field strengthens, even a small NdFeB magnet can lift tendrils up into the air and control them like a snake charmer.

Does Magnetic GLUX lose its magnetic or elastic properties over time?

No, it does not lose its magnetic or elastic properties. You will need to use the included magnet to charge it and restore its magnetic properties from time to time, but it will last for years! It will absorb dirt, dust, hand oils, etc.; however, because of its dark color, it will take a lot of dirt before it starts to look dingy.
